Literature Text

Since ancient times, man has been ruling this planet with his skills and knowledge. Be it the stone age hunter-gatherers or the modern day scientists, the single target that the human race has looked forward to is development. The road to this never ending destination is what I term education. It is the pathway for development and advancement, and the guarantee for a better, more equipped future.

Education has literal and hidden meanings. Practically, it is the opportunity for a person to grow both mentally and financially. It is the belief in learning, and the means to get power and freedom. Whether we are stuck in our lives or not, education is something that will give us a forethought, and prepare us for the next step in life. It is the preparation for the competition for life, and the deciding factor in getting ahead of others.

For me, education is not equivalent to learning or knowing something. It is a way of life that advances us towards a better society, and a key to success for an individual. It is the step we take in understanding and imagining the stuff that make us a more reproductive and talented person. It is the tool that can help us in distinguishing between right and wrong. It is the ability to move forward, and keep up the hope for a better society.

In short, going to schools and colleges, gazing the faces while listening to lectures and getting a high paid job isn’t education for me. These are only a part of the greater goal that every human looks forward to. As said in the movie ‘3 Idiots’, a circus lion is called ‘well trained’, not ‘well educated’. Similarly, in its deepest meanings, education is the practice of humanity, and something that differentiates us from other animals.

Even more than the socio-economic benefits,
you mention, Krysis, is the ammunition for
combatting ideological ignorance, hopefully
lessening the judgmental violence thereof.

The more truth, the better world.

Otherwise, yes! ;) pip
